I am still on the Breast Cancer Awareness theme. The need for early detection cannot be over emphasized. If you need more information or need to speak to someone, there is a Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria. You can check their website for more information at Brecan.org. Another organisation doing it’s bit to promote awareness is C.O.P.E. Visit their website here
In my last post, I spoke about self screening. It is the cheapest way to check for any lumps and you can do it in less than 5 minutes. If you still haven’t had the time for a self screen, please find time. Five minutes could literarily save your life. Below is a picture of what you need to do during your self examination.
Something else you can do this month is to host an event to raise awareness. Why not invite a bunch of your friends over and show them how they can do a self examination. Don’t assume they know, and if they do, it would just be a ‘Girl’s Night In’.
Or gather some friends and raise money for your chosen charity with a bake sale. You could make some of the delectable Donut Muffins in my last post along side these Pink Lemonades, which are guaranteed to refresh anyone from the Nigerian ‘sun’.
For the Pink Lemonade, you would need…
Freshly squeezed lemon juice is best but if you don’t have the time (or like me, you just can’t be bothered), then the bottled one works. It is quite tart though.
Once you have your ingredients it is just a matter of measuring. Follow the short steps in the recipe and …
Make sure you add some ice to the mix. At first, I didn’t add the ice and it was too sweet and too tart all at once but the ice balanced it out. If you are not planning on using ice, you might need to dilute the lemonade with more water.
Lemon juice is available in most grocery stores. They may come in lemon shaped plastic containers instead of a bottle like mine did. If anyone knows what aisle lemon juice might be found in, please let me know or add a comment below. Cranberry juice is quite popular now. It is in the drinks aisle in a carton in most grocery stores and Ocean Spray is a relatively common brand.
This is a tasty and refreshing non alcoholic drink
